About Us

There was a restaurant in my old neighborhood of Fairmount called the Blue Cat.  On one of the main walls in the dining room was a large mural of – you guessed it – a very large blue cat. Featuring a Latin-inspired menu, this BYOB joint was one of my favorite weekend haunts – whether for dinner on Friday night or Sunday brunch. Sadly, the place closed its doors back at the end of 2015. I always wondered what happened to the cat mural. I’m assuming it was painted over when the space changed tenants.

I decided to name this blog after that big blue cat because I had so many incredible meals under his watchful eyes. This food blog chronicles the ups and downs of the Philly food scene – following restaurant openings and closings, announcing new bars and watering holes, and exploring the menus of some of Philadelphia’s best restaurants. I have a passion for food and a passion for my hometown of Philly, so I’ve combined my two loves into a fun side project. I hope you enjoy!
